Recently I attended a Sri Sri Yoga course a ten hour workshop spread over five days under the guidance of Dr.D.Sirisha, Art of Living Faculty. Sirisha is an excellent teacher, soft-spoken, very graceful, mild, glowing, so calm and always smiling. She informed us that our beloved Guruji is a living example of a perfect yogi in action and creator of Sri Sri Yoga, which is composed of various yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation and yogic knowledge. He has presented these yogic techniques and knowledge in a simplistic manner to the entire world. It is rich with ancient knowledge. Guruji in his talks and seminars always speaks on Yoga for Health and Happiness. During PDS, conducted by Him, part of the time is devoted to yogasanas, breathing and meditation. She extensively described on various aspects e.g. asanas (postures) nadis (channels) and chakras (energy centers). Asanas should be steady and enjoyable, firm yet relaxed and these postures purify and strengthen the body, and focus the mind. She also spoke on various fruitful sutras, yogic knowledge and introduced us to Ayurveda, the Science of Life. Every time she spoke, I used to close my eyes and experience her words and each and every sentence spoken conveyed its meaning magnificently. Its impact was highly truthful.
Technically speaking, there is nothing in the Sri Sri Yoga course that cannot be learnt elsewhere. The asanas and pranayamas are taught in most yoga courses. And yet the magic in Sri Sri Yoga is striking. Even though the asanas and pranayams taught seems so common, the Grace behind it becomes so prominently uncommon. It is simple yet powerful. It was a tremendous relaxation for my body and soul. Now I feel more energetic, peaceful, calm, balanced, with increased concentration of mind. Different asanas and pranayams ideally helped us enormously in meditation process and increased our sensitivity and awareness. I was gently stretched beyond my perceived limits in a space of love and joy, immersing into deep meditations and filled with knowledge. It helps us to see our-Self and our role in this life with new fresh eyes, I feel so blessed and sensitive.
I think, the more sensitive we are, the more present, the more present the more conscious, the more conscious the more Divine! Is not it true? What more one requires?
Each participant cherished his/her mind, body and soul. It is an experience I will cherish through my life.
Jai Guru Dev
